As part of our Dock & Dine tour, we had the pleasure of visiting Proving Ground, located in the picturesque Atlantic Highlands. This vibrant establishment stands out for its unique blend of open, casual ambiance and full-service amenities, making it a favorite among both boaters and land-based diners.
One of the highlights of Proving Ground is its versatile seating arrangements. Guests can choose from outdoor seating near a cozy firepit, unwind at the open-air bar, or enjoy the comfort of the two-story indoor dining area, each level featuring a full-span bar. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, perfect for families, friends, or anyone looking to soak in waterfront views and fresh sea air.
Arriving by boat was a breeze thanks to their well-maintained floating dock. The dock master was attentive and helpful, ensuring that docking was smooth and stress-free. The facility can accommodate about four to five boats at a time, and while the place is typically busy, the staff manages the flow efficiently. Do expect a short wait during peak hours, but the overall experience makes it worthwhile.
Our meal was a pleasant highlight. We sampled the Tuna Wraps, which were fresh and flavorful—an ideal choice for a light yet satisfying lunch. Noah opted for Chicken Fingers and fries, which came in a generous portion and were well-prepared, making it a hit for both kids and adults.
The combination of great service, delicious food, and a welcoming environment made our stop at Proving Ground a memorable part of our Dock & Dine adventure. Whether you arrive by land or sea, this restaurant delivers a standout waterfront dining experience in Atlantic Highlands.
