"My wife and I discovered this place a few years ago and at it was love at first bite! The food is authentic and delicious. The decor is traditional and has a cozy urban feel to it. The desserts and coffee are a great finish... Especially the Churros and Ice Cream! I highly recommend this place to anyone that loves authentic Mexican cuisine."

"i happened to stumble on this cute place..and was so happy to see it was mexican.i went with a friend and i have to say i was so impressed! the atmosphere was charming,the service was so friendly and attentive..and the food was amazing and fresh!i love the fact that two brothers own it and were behind the bar giving great service!they make the guacamole table side and the halapeno margaritas are a perfect pair to the delicious food!i cant wait to go back with my boyfriend he will love it!so impressed!!!if you like mexican food thats made to perfection try this place!and try the stuffed plantains!yummmm"

"EXCELLENT!!! I am so glad my friends and I decided to give this restaurant a second chance. I used to go until last November, don't know what happened but the food wasn't the same. We decided to try it out again last Friday night mainly because my husband wanted their Jalapeno Margarita and was SO HAPPY! It was back to the way it originally started with fresh and amazing food. The service was great also. Can't wait to visit again."

"This restaurant is not amongst my favorite. I had the chicken fajitas. The chicken was dry and almost had no flavor at all. The prices were overpriced. The service was good at least and that's why this place gets 2 stars from me."

"Disappointed!! I have been to this restaurant several times in the past year and a half and was always very pleased and happy with the food and service until this Friday night. The service was still very good but the food has taken a decline in quality. My husband ordered enchiladas mole one of there best dishes on their menu and we have to say the mole sauce was lacking something. It was as if the recipe was changed and they were too heavy handed on the chocolate portion of the sauce. I ordered the Seafood Stuffed Pepper special. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. For $23.95, you would think it would be full of crab meat and shrimp like its description - It wasn't. The first few bites I took were all potatoes. Which was so disappointing on so many levels. The amount of seafood they used was just sad, it had tiny pieces of broken of shrimp which I only noticed a few of and it was thin strains of crab, as if small piece of crab was taken and shredded apart. But mostly all potatoes. My feeling is this, you have this item as a special and you cant make it right - remove it from the board. Overall this weekend's visit was a huge disappointment, the decline in use of quality and fresh ingredients is sad. I am not sure if we will be returning because if it was just the mole sauce, you can just put it off as - they are having a bad night or something and let it go. But when you notice one of their main dishes and a special both lacking in quality and taste. Something is just not right. Good Luck to the owners, hope you can fix whatever is happening and get it right again because this was a great little restaurant."

"It seems the restaurant has become a victim of its own success. While the atmosphere is nice and the food is good, the staff can't handle all of the tables and incoming guests. You are told a wait is 10 minutes when it's more like an hour. Portions are a bit small for the price and the alcohol is priced too high. While I will acknowledge that appetizers such as jalapenos with goat cheese are creative and the fajita dish includes delicious plaintains under the meat, the staff needs to work harder to make transient clients become repeat customers. Mezcal's on Bradley Avenue is smaller but offers a more outstanding menu in this cuisine."

"I will very rarely give a restaurant a 5 star rating. I'm the type person who believes there is always room for improvement. This restaurant is the exception. Food is great, presentation is great, prices are fair, staff is very friendly and welcoming. I've been to Maizal about 5 times already since the summer 2010. A friend of mine turned me on to this place and I'm glad he did. Of all the meals I've had, the Carne Asada in my opinion was the best, but other items were just as good. Last time I was there, I had the ribs. Seasoned perfect, with a little spice that kind of sneaked up on you. Overall, a great restaurant."

"Where to begin The Atmosphere and staff – Both warm and welcoming. Ever ready to explain things on the menu and take time to get to know their customer. All the hard work and dedication from staff and owners is clearly displayed The food – true Mexican cuisine, no “fake food” here.. The menu is simple, not 1,000 things to choose from so they can devote time to preparing the food properly. Everything freshly made, the flavors “pop” and you are getting the true taste of Mexican food. Kudos to the Chef."

"They need to update their menu prices ASAP! I just called to place a pickup order and an order of steak tacos and a shredded beef burrito came out to $35! I heard good things and wanted to try but those prices are ridiculous! I told the girl on the phone that their prices online are totally different and she goes, oh price change like it was no big deal."

"Update I just tried to speak to the owner about her manager. Talking to a brick wall. Offered me a free meal but took that awful manager’s side. No wonder the ratings have slipped over the years for this place. The owner even tried to tell me, a Puerto Rican, that I was in the wrong for saying the manager shouldn’t talk negatively about customers in Spanish. Sorry if you are circumventing insulting customers to their face by talking in a different language YOU the manager are in the wrong. The owner basically insinuated I was racist against Spanish people. Ludicrous. Nope I am not having that. Seriously... save yourself the grief and avoid this place like the plague! If I could give 0 stats I would. Just placed an order through DoorDash. Apparently I ordered an item they don't even carry but never bothered to update the doordash menu Then they replaced the item with something I am allergic to. I settled that with DoorDash but Maizal reneged on the deal and tried to charge me for the item I canceled. They wouldn't let the delivery person have the food. I had to call them and a woman claiming to be the manager was horrific to me. She told me to cancel my order and that DoorDash is terrible funny never had a problem with them and any other restaurant. To add insult to injury she started talking in Spanish to someone in the restaurant basically saying how the whole situation is my fault because I had the audacity to insist the order I placed be allowed to leave. I took great joy in telling her I am Puerto Rican and can speak Spanish. So unprofessional and rude. DoorDash left the food that would make me sick and gave me the money back she charged me. I got the nachos and alas they are subpar. Over cooked meat on tasteless nachos with congealed cheese on top. Horrible experience. I will never go there again. That manager should be fired."
